Saturday, May 26th – Dinner party at my house

10:30AM
Bowl of regular flavored instant oatmeal made with milk, with cinnamon mixed in. Okay, there's a limit to eating healthy haha, this unflavored oatmeal was terrible. The cinnamon couldn't even mask the flavor. It needed sugar, badly. I still managed to finish it, but I am never eating it plain ever again…

2:30PM
Some more cold peanut sesame noodles.

7:00PM
My mom is an amazing cook. We were having guests over today for a monthly dinner party, and I asked my mom what she was planning to make. She shrugged and said she was just going to make some spring rolls and salad type dishes and keep it casual. Yeah right. She made more dishes than I can count on my two hands, all in one afternoon. And it all tasted so good…. So I present tonight's menu:


Not quite sure what this dish would be called in English, but it is spaghetti squash that my mom marinated for a few hours in a mixture of salt, sugar, vinegar, and water. But it's not pickled the way you would think of other vegetables. It gives the squash a light flavor that makes it a particularly refreshing dish to eat. It's topped with scallions and sesame seeds, and served strained.

Oh my… didn't I tell you my mom cooked up a storm? Haha I hope I'll become such a good and efficient cook later on. We had tons of leftovers, because we only had like 7 guests, so I was eating the same thing for the next several days :P
